When we are focused on an issue
and we are in a state of anxiety and worry, it is difficult if not impossible to come up with good solutions. Have you ever considered that most, if not all, of the solutions to your problems came about when you were in a calm and peaceful state of mind?
Have you ever experienced a trauma in your life such as loss of a loved one, divorce, loss of job, or other loss? Then you know how easy it can be to focus on the despair that comes with loss. Hopelessness sets in and we begin to feel sorry for ourselves. We wonder why no solutions are coming to us or why we can’t seem to stir up enough energy to do anything at
all.
Stress, hopelessness and worried thinking are like holding a beach ball underwater. When our mind is gripped with fearful thinking and worry, we are pushing
our resilience down and snuffing out the light inside. What happens when we let go of the beach ball? It rises to the surface all by itself. This is the same thing that happens when we let go of anxious thoughts. When we stop entertaining scary thoughts, our system resets to its natural state of being which is one of peacefulness and contentment.
You are resilient. We were born resilient. Just observe babies and young children. One moment they are crying and the next moment they are laughing with no concern for whatever upset them a short time ago. Babies and young children haven’t yet learned to
be fearful or to worry. Toddlers fall down numerous times when they are learning to walk. Yet, they don’t give up. They keep trying. They laugh and they have fun while going through the process of learning.
All our lives we are taught to push through hardships and to effort our way through challenges. That is so much work! It may sound strange to you, but you will accomplish more and feel better faster when you relax and let inspiration come to you.
Test it! Take any challenge you are faced with today and don’t attempt to solve it. Do something else instead, something you enjoy or something that relaxes you. When stressful thoughts about the problem creep in, pull your focus back to what you are doing at
the moment. You may have to do that several times. If no inspiration comes to you at that time, don’t give up. Sometimes it can take awhile for an insight to occur. Meanwhile, you are likely to be feeling less anxious and may even be more relaxed.
Our thinking creates our experience of the world around us. We know this because not everyone has the same reaction to every situation.
Let me know your thoughts on this.
With Loving Support,
